Once again, Randy Perkins has released a TV ad that is 100% false.
Brian Mast is vehemently against All Aboard Florida. None of the donors in question are connected to All Board Florida. It is a bold-faced lie.
From TCPalm's Fact Check:
"Brian Mast says he opposes All Aboard Florida, but an attack ad says those "driving the new train are supporting his campaign.
"Fact check: Not exactly. Democrat Randy Perkins categorized four small donations totaling $2,000 as being tied to the high-speed train, but none of the donors works for AAF, its subsidiaries or its parent or sister companies."
"Treasure Coast Newspapers' analysis of the donations show:
* Four employees of Van Scoyoc Associates gave Mast $1,250. The lobbying firm prepared a 2016 legislative agenda for St. Lucie County in which the county directed the firm to oppose the train.
* Thomas Sliney, an attorney and shareholder at Greenspoon Marder, gave Mast $250 in 2016. Two years before, AAF declined to buy property for its downtown West Palm Beach station from a client of Sliney's law firm, according to a 2012 South Florida Business Journal report. It's unclear whether Sliney was even involved in the deal.
* CBRE senior appraiser Ron Timblin and vice president Tim Warner gave Mast $250 each. The company got a 2014 contract to market 200,000 square feet of retail space at the MiamiCentral rail station.
"Perkins' campaign didn't explain how that makes CBRE, Sliney or Van Scoyoc "drivers" or even supporters of the train."
"We call on Randy Perkins to show some integrity for once and remove this false, desperate ad. He has proven yet again that he has no issue with lying to the voters of District 18. He will say and do anything to get elected. It's clear Randy is desperate given that he's down 7 points in the latest poll. If he chooses to keep this ad up, he is intentionally deceiving the very people he wants to represent in Washington." - Madison Anderson, Brian Mast for Congress Spokeswoman
