Release: David Young Announces Iowa Veterans Coalition

David Young's re-election campaign announced its "Veterans for David Young" coalition today, comprised of 61 veterans from all 16 counties in Iowa's Third Congressional District.

The coalition includes Iowans who have served in the United States Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and National Guard.

"David is a strong friend of veterans in Iowa, working to provide those who served with important benefits and support. David is one of the most honorable men I've met, and we need more people like him in Congress," former Lt. Colonel in the Marines and current State House Representative Stan Gustafson said. "There are doers and there are talkers, and David has proven himself an effective leader for Iowa."

Throughout his short two years in Congress, David has hosted four "Veterans Care Fairs," bringing together veterans and their families with support agencies and organizations. He has also authored and supported legislation that holds the Department of Veterans Affairs accountable, and is currently leading the charge to pass legislation he introduced that would address critical failures of the VA's Veterans Crisis Line, which is an important resource for veterans in need of support.

"Our veterans have selflessly served this nation and Freedom's cause bravely," David said. "It is our solemn responsibility to ensure we uphold the promises made to them by a grateful nation. It's an honor to work to support our veterans and fight to put their well-being first every day."
Last week a group of veterans, many of whom are on this list, held a letter writing campaign to urge Veterans Affairs Secretary Bob McDonald to fix the Veterans Crisis Line -- a priority David has taken the lead on in Congress. You can learn more about the issue and see the coverage here.
