Catherine Cortez Masto Talks With Northern Nevada Women About How She Will Fight to Protect Women's Access to Healthcare and Pass Pay Equity Legislation

Today, former Nevada Attorney General and U.S. Senate candidate Catherine Cortez Masto joined women in Reno to talk about why she is the clear choice to represent Nevada in the U.S. Senate. Cortez Masto spoke with women at Craft Wine & Beer in Reno about her commitment to fighting for the issues that matter to them, including ensuring women are paid equal to men for equal work, protecting a woman's right to choose and access to safe, affordable healthcare. She also discussed how her opponent, Congressman Joe Heck, has spent over half a decade in Washington voting with Washington Republicans for policies that hurt Nevada women.

"It's time to put an end to Washington Republicans' incessant attacks on women's rights," said Cortez Masto. "Joe Heck has spent six years in Washington voting with the Koch brothers and against Nevada women. Not only has Heck voted multiple times against pay equity legislation, to defund Planned Parenthood, and to ban a woman's right to choose, he supports Donald Trump to be President. Unlike Joe Heck, I know that Nevada is stronger when we have policies that support women and that's what I'll work for in the U.S. Senate."

"Joe Heck has spent three terms in Congress showing that his loyalty is to his Party, even when Nevada women get hurt," said Caroline Mello Roberson, State Director of NARAL Nevada. "We cannot afford to elect him to the Senate, where he will only continue his efforts to restrict women's access to preventative healthcare. To add insult to injury, Joe Heck thinks that Donald Trump -- who has called women "fat pigs,' "slobs,' and "dogs,' and thinks women should be punished for having abortions -- should be our next President. Joe Heck will not fight for Nevada women in the Senate and it's why we're going to elect Catherine in November."
