Van Hollen Statement on Obama Administration Action on Paid Sick Leave and Equal Pay

Statement

Date: Sept. 29, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen released the following statement on the Obama Administration's action on paid sick leave and equal pay:

"The decision to forfeit a day of pay to recover from an illness or care for a family member is one that no American should have to face. For federal contractors in Maryland and across the country, the actions taken by the Obama administration are an important step forward, and bring us closer toward ensuring earned paid sick leave and equal pay are a right for every American. Congress must continue this fight. At the same time, we must build an economy that works for all Americans. That means boosting the minimum wage, closing the gender wage gap, and finally ensuring that our tax code rewards those who earn a paycheck through hard work-- not just those who make money off of money."
