Walberg Votes to Boost Workforce Training, Create 21st Century Jobs

Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) voted today for the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, bipartisan legislation to help more Michigan students and workers enter the workforce with the skills they need to succeed.

This bipartisan legislation reauthorizes and reforms the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, which has provided federal support to state and local career and technical education programs for more than 30 years. H.R. 5587 also includes Walberg-authored provisions to address outdated and burdensome occupational licensure requirements, which can create unnecessary regulatory barriers to job growth.

"Modernizing career and technical education programs will help ensure our aspiring workforce is getting the training they need and want to thrive in the 21st century workforce. It is particularly important for students and workers in Michigan, where manufacturing and skilled trades are a vital component of our state's economy.
