Gianforte and Robinson Attend Trapping Rendezvous, Discuss Importance of Trapping to Montana

Bozeman businessman and tech entrepreneur Greg Gianforte and running mate Lesley Robinson, a rancher and Phillips County Commissioner, were in Lewistown on Saturday for the Montana Trappers Association Rendezvous. They took in the sights and sounds of the rendezvous and talked with trappers about the importance of maintaining Montana's trapping heritage.

Both Gianforte and Robinson expressed strong opposition to I-177, an initiative pushed by environmental extremists that would prohibit trapping on public lands.

GIANFORTE: Trapping is an integral part of our outdoor life. I am a trapper and a lifetime member of the Montana Trapping Association. This initiative would take away the ability of Montana sportsmen and women to practice their favorite pastime on public lands. Ultimately, this is just another attempt by environmental extremists to restrict our ability to recreate on public lands.
