Hudson Responds to Planned Increase of Syrian Refugee Intake

Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08), co-author of bipartisan legislation to strengthen the vetting of Syrian and Iraqi refugees, released the following statement responding to reports that the Obama Administration plans to admit "a significantly higher number" of Syrian refugees in fiscal year 2017:

"The Director of National Intelligence told us terrorists are attempting to exploit the Syrian refugee program and the FBI Director has repeatedly testified the current vetting is inadequate. Given these facts, the unprecedented wave of terror attacks across the globe, and the American people's concerns, the administration's continued push to admit a significantly higher number of Syrian refugees defies all common sense and reason. It is time for Senate Democrats to stop blocking my bill that will pause the Syrian refugee program until we can be certain no one is a threat to our country."
