Dear GOP: Stop Holding the Supreme Court Hostage!

The Senate needs to do its job.

Since Justice Scalia's death two months ago, our Supreme Court has had to review cases with eight Justices instead of nine, leaving it unable to issue judgments in important cases. Before a date was set for Justice Scalia's funeral, Republican leaders announced they would obstruct the nomination process until 2017.

It's been weeks since President Obama nominated Merrick Garland, a moderate and universally respected judge, to fill this vacancy. Judge Garland deserves a hearing and a vote.

The politically motivated obstruction of President Obama's Supreme Court nominee is a symptom of what is wrong in Congress. I'm running to set a new tone in Washington and get important things done for the people of Central Florida.
