WSJ Agrees With DeSantis: Time To Impeach the IRS Commissioner

Press Release

Date: Oct. 28, 2015
Location: Ponte Vedra Beach, FL

Congressman Ron DeSantis's push to impeach IRS Commissioner John Koskinen has picked up a new ally -- the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal. In today's paper, the Journal's editorial joins the call for impeachment over Koskinen's failure to comply with subpoenas, false statements, and general incompetence. The Journal writes that impeachment will have "the salutary effect of reminding executive-branch officials that they are not a government unto themselves."

In an Op-ed published in July, Congressman DeSantis called for impeachment of Koskinen. To read it, click here.

"IRS Commissioner John Koskinen needs to go. No one is above the law. A taxpayer would never be able to get away with obstructing an IRS audit in the same way that the IRS and Koskinen have obstructed Congress," said Congressman DeSantis. "From destroying 24,000 of Lois Lerner's emails that were under a congressional subpoena to making a number of false statements before congressional committees, Commissioner Koskinen has violated the public trust and breached the duties an official of his stature owes to the public."
