Dear Chairman Portman and Ranking Member McCaskill,
I write to urge you-as the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI)-to consider opening an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the pricing of Mylan's EpiPen Auto-Injectors.
As you know, recent media reports have indicated that the price of EpiPen Auto-Injectors has risen dramatically in the past 12 years, from $100 in 2004 to over $600 today. This significant price increase represents an enormous barrier for millions of individuals whose lives depend on affordable, quick, and safe access to epinephrine.
As a member of PSI, I look forward to working with you and the rest of the subcommittee to further investigate the circumstances surrounding the extremely burdensome cost to consumers of this life-saving device and ensure that affordable epinephrine injector generic alternatives reach the marketplace as soon as possible.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
