Renews Call to Pass Additional Emergency Funding

Statement

Today, U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte welcomed the announcement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that New Hampshire will receive $200,000 to establish a framework to provide support services for families and children affected by the Zika virus, including detection and referral to services for infants with microcephaly and other serious health-related outcomes related to the virus.

"Zika is a threat to our public health, national security and economic stability and I am pleased to see that New Hampshire will receive much-needed funds to implement a framework that keeps our children and families safe," said Senator Ayotte. "In addition, I have voted at every opportunity to allocate emergency funding for this crisis, including the $1.1 billion that was included in the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill. I urge my colleagues across the aisle to stop playing politics and pass that legislation so we can fund not only a robust response to Zika, but also critical projects for our troops and veterans."

Ayotte has voted in favor of multiple provisions that would provide emergency funding to fight Zika, including the Fiscal Year 2017 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill.
