Missouri Dairy Association Endorses Smith

Press Release

Date: July 11, 2016
Location: Cape Girardeau, MO

Today, U.S. Rep Jason Smith (MO-08) received the endorsement and support of the Missouri Dairy Association (MDA). The decision was made earlier in the month by the associations board of directors where only four candidates in the entire state were given the special distinction to receive the groups support ahead of the August primaries.

Upon receiving the Missouri Dairy Association endorsement letter, Rep Smith commented, "Agriculture is the number one industry in our state and the economic engine of the economy here in south central and southeast Missouri, so receiving this kind of recognition and support is an honor. It also means a lot to me because there are so many family farmers and members of their association right here in Missouri's 8th Congressional District. They're neighbors, and I am proud to fight for them."

Smith has been a leader for the agriculture community both at the state and federal level. While in the Missouri legislature he helped draft and pass legislation to protect livestock farmers from intrusive regulations and later Missouri's Right to Farm constitutional amendment. In Congress, Smith has dedicated his efforts towards reducing and eliminating out-of-touch and abusive regulations often handed down from the Federal government and it's agencies like the USDA, IRS, and EPA.

The Missouri Dairy Association, an organization of dairy producers, is committed to promote, protect and enhance the Missouri dairy industry by working to insure the profitability of dairy producers.
