There's no denying it--climate change is happening, and we have to address it now. In Minnesota, we've already seen milder winters, heat waves, droughts, and floods. Scientists agree that the warming of the past 50 years is largely due to human-induced emissions of heat-trapping gasses. These emissions come mainly from burning fossil fuels.

Climate change is certainly a threat to our environment and the health and safety of our people. But it also presents us with a great opportunity to create economic growth through smart public policies. We must continue to promote federal policy that encourages growth in the renewable energy sector. Investments in wind, solar, and other alternative energy sources will be key to decreasing our reliance on fossil fuels.
