Alaskans are frustrated with a State House that has sat on its hands while our budget crisis has spiralled out of control. This inaction cannot continue. I am committed to seeing that productive debates on the issues are no longer forestalled by bills and resolutions that get hung up in committee. Legislators have a duty to express their stances on the House Floor with their voices and their votes, and they should not be allowed to hide their beliefs behind committees and bureaucratic inefficiency. I also support the idea that if legislators do not meet their constitutional obligation to pass a budget, their perdiems and salaries should be reduced.
