Congressman Marc Veasey released the following statement after the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled to strike down Texas' 2011 discriminatory and restrictive photo voter ID law as is:

"Today Texas voters' fair access to the ballot box is restored. After careful and thorough deliberation, the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled on the right side of history. They found what many of us already knew to be true: Texas' restrictive photo voter ID law discriminates against minority voters and disenfranchises eligible American voters. As the lead plaintiff in Veasey v. Abbott, I am elated that after a long battle, Texans will once again be able to exercise one of their fundamental rights as U.S. citizens. There is no more sacred right as an American than the right to vote. Today is a great day for Texas voters and a step forward in restoring Americans' faith in our democracy."
