We are fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful communities in the country. We have an obligation to preserve the natural beauty of our region and champion policies and protections that ensure we are good stewards of our environment. In Olympia, I passed two important pieces of legislation to do just that. My bill to protect our threatened honeybee colonies and preserve pollen-rich food sources received almost unanimous support.

In addition, my paint stewardship bill will require paint producers to participate in a stewardship program approved by the Department of Ecology to manage the disposal of leftover paint. This simple step will ensure paint is disposed of responsibly rather than ending up in our landfills.
