The Brownback Administration and Legislature have robbed the Kansas Department of Transportation of almost one BILLION dollars designated for infrastructure building and repairs. They have confiscated these funds in order to cover general fund budget shortfalls caused by the failed Republican tax policies. A recent national report shows 2,303 Kansas bridges deemed structurally deficient and in need of immediate repair. The Republican leadership in Topeka recently authorized the sale of $400 million in new bonds, theoretically for infrastructure repair, but in reality those funds will undoubtedly find their way into the general fund to support budget shortfalls.
