Sessions Takes a Stand Against Iran

Statement

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions, Chairman of the House Committee on Rules, released the following statement applauding the passage of three measures that hold Iran accountable for their criminal actions:

"Today marks one year since President Obama agreed to the irresponsible nuclear deal with Iran against the counsel of Congress and the will of the American people. Despite the President's grand promises, our world is more dangerous and Iran is more defiant, yet this administration's foreign policy strategy remains nonexistent. Instead of vowing to defeat terrorism, Obama's White House has been relentless in their mission to provide Iran with the tools necessary to breach the laws of the international community, violate basic human rights, and illegally grow their nuclear capabilities. To negotiate with a nation that shouts "death to America" at the top of their lungs, threatens our friends and allies in Israel, and demonstrates daily a complete lack of respect for all humanity is unjustifiable. We must take a strong stand against this dangerous nation and show them that America will not waiver and we will not condone their criminal terrorist behavior. I proudly supported all three measures that the House passed this week to hold Iran accountable for their dereliction of the law, prevent American tax dollars from subsidizing their illegal actions, and protect the global financial system from funding Iran's acts of terrorism."
