Cramer: New Rule Part of Administration's Plan to Ban Fossil Fuels and Increase Energy Prices

Congressman Kevin Cramer made the following statement about new U.S. Department of Interior final rules issued today to value taxpayer oil, natural gas, and coal:

"Well, here we go again. The Obama Administration is declaring a new rule that modernizes regulations and helps taxpayer by maximizing their return. In reality it's exactly the opposite. It's a bunch of baloney and one more part of the overall war on fossil fuels. It's an attack that is killing an industry that provides affordable and reliable energy, the best jobs in America and energy and national security. I'm working with my colleagues in the House in the upcoming Interior appropriations bill to stop this and all the other job-killing rules that Democrats are pushing down our throats."

Cramer is a cosponsor of H.R. 5259, the Certainty for States and Tribes Act, introduced by Congressman Ryan Zinke of Montana. This bill looks at Department of Interior policies and reestablishes the Royalty Policy Committee established in 1995 to advise the Secretary of Interior on royalty management issues and other mineral-related policies. The Committee only met once during the Obama Administration and was lapsed in 2014.
