Issue Position: Rural North Carolina

Time and again, Deborah stepped up to advance issues that are important to North Carolina's rural areas.
In the State House, Deborah worked to ensure that economically disadvantaged rural counties received their fair share of school funding, supported clean energy policies that boosted rural counties, invested in rural water and sewer infrastructure, and argued against legislation that banned local governments from providing public broadband systems.

When a study found North Carolina's rural hospitals -- along with those in 18 states that had yet to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act -- had higher debt than other hospitals, Deborah advocated for the expansion of Medicaid.

Deborah will continue to work to make sure rural North Carolinians have access to quality health care, education, infrastructure, and technology when she is in the U.S. Senate.
