Juneau's Attacks Against Zinke Rated False by Independent Fact Checkers

Today, independent fact checkers at Ballotpedia.org rated Denise Juneau's attacks against Rep. Ryan Zinke's public lands record false.

The fact check stated: "She [Juneau] claims that Zinke has wavered on opposing transferring public lands to states and voted to weaken public access. Juneau's claim is false. The bill that Zinke voted for does not authorize the sale of any federal lands. The measure also includes provisions protecting access, including for hunting, fishing, and existing rights of Indian tribes. It also requires that at least one member representing the recreational community be appointed to the state committee that would manage the land in the state."

"Lies do not win elections, leadership does," said Heather Swift, Zinke spokeswoman. "Either Denise Juneau didn't read the bill or she knowingly lied to score political points. Either way, it's not becoming of a person who wants to represent Montana in Congress. Juneau should immediately retract her comments, correct the record, and read the bill."
