Michael is fighting to protect and strengthen Medicare and Social Security so our seniors can enjoy their retirement without going bankrupt.

More than 40% of Americans over 65 would be living in poverty without Social Security benefits. Michael has fought to preserve and strengthen Social Security because Coloradans who have worked their entire lives deserve to know that it will be there for them when they need it.

He has voted to throw up road blocks against any legislation that would reduce benefits or privatize Social Security.

Michael has also fought to protect Medicare for Colorado's seniors. He introduced legislation to protect the promise of Medicare and prevent it from becoming a voucher program as Republicans in the House of Representatives have proposed, and he is working with a Republican senator to help seniors with chronic medical conditions reduce their Medicare costs.
