Colorado is home to over 400,000 veterans and Michael believes our nation should honor its commitment and provide our veterans with access to the care they've earned by serving our country.

Michael worked with Colorado's Republican congressmen to break through Washington red tape and allow veterans who live more than 40 miles from a clinic to receive their care at non-VA medical clinics. And because Coloradans know that 40 miles as the crow flies is not the same as 40 miles through winding mountain roads, Michael made sure the the Department of Veterans Affairs used actual driving distance.

At Michael's urging, the VA is simplifying administrative requirements on outside providers under the Veterans Choice Program to speed up the reimbursement process. And Michael will continue to make veterans' access to health care a priority. In response to concerns from Colorado veterans and community organizations, Michael is introducing a bill to consolidate confusing and overlapping community programs and eliminate burdensome regulations so our veterans can see health care providers more quickly.

And Michael is continuing to push to complete the new VA medical center in Aurora and hold the VA accountable for its mismanagement.
