Michael knows our immigration system is broken, and he's long been a champion of comprehensive immigration reform that includes a pathway to citizenship.
Michael was part of the "Gang of Eight," a group of bipartisan senators who worked together to write a sweeping bill to fix our broken immigration system. The group met with a diverse coalition of business, labor, farm workers, faith organizations and Latino leaders to write a bill that would secure our borders, reform an outdated visa system, guarantee important worker protections, and create a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants.
Michael strongly supports the DREAM Act and has urged the Department of Homeland Security to halt deportations of young people who came to the United States as children. Michael applauded the president's DAPA and DACA executive actions and his office has hosted workshops on how to apply for the programs. And Michael has called for the administration to end the practice of presumptive detention of families.
