Beatty Statement on Baton Rouge, Falcon Heights and Dallas Shootings

Statement

Today, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement on the killing of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minnesota; and five police officers in Dallas, Texas:

"I am shocked and devastated by the multiple, tragic deaths occurring across our country this week. The senseless deaths of two innocent young black men at the hands of police and the equally senseless killing of five Dallas police officers last night were all completely avoidable and intolerable. Words alone cannot describe my heartbreak, however, words cannot describe my resolve. We need real solutions now to stop the bloodshed. I remain committed to working with my colleagues, community leaders and organizations, police, elected officials, and all people willing to find a path forward. My prayers are with all those families, friends, communities, and all Americans affected by this week's tragedies."
