U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued the following statement on the economic situation in Puerto Rico:
"Like many governments today, Puerto Rico spends more money than it takes in, and now some have suggested Congress send a bailout. I am blown away that this could ever be a solution. Taxpayer funded bailouts undermine the rule of law and set exactly the wrong precedent for other spendthrift politicians -- many of whom are watching this case closely. Puerto Rico needs substantial reforms to save its economy not a band aid of US cash. I will never vote to send Hoosiers' hard earned dollars to spendthrift governments."
