Sessions: Secret Meeting Between the Attorney General and Clinton was Highly Inappropriate

Statement

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement in response to the highly inappropriate meeting between Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Hillary Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton:

"Yesterday's inappropriate meeting between Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton is a painful reminder of scandal plagued years of the 1990s. This meeting was completely inappropriate, especially since the Attorney General oversees our nation's Justice Department and is charged with ensuring the investigation of Hillary Clinton is faithfully completed. While the Clintons believe that they are above reproach, Mrs. Clinton must be held accountable for her irresponsible and lawless behavior. I highly question the Attorney General's ability to remain unbiased in this situation if she continues to compromise her ability to objectively look at this investigation. Now more than ever it is imperative that the Department of Justice utilizes outside, independent counsel to fully and fairly conduct this investigation so that the American people can rest assured that justice is served in a nonpartisan, no biased fashion."
