Governor Hassan's Statement on Sustained Veto of HB 533

Following the New Hampshire House of Representatives sustaining her veto of House Bill 533, Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement:

"Protecting the safety of our families and our communities is the number one priority of any state government. By changing the arc-fault circuit interrupters law, House Bill 533 would have reduced the level of fire protection in homes and threatened public safety. Because it would have jeopardized the safety of our families and communities, the State Fire Marshal, the New Hampshire State Building Code Review Board, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, the National Fire Protection Association and dozens of advocates who have been victims of severe and debilitating burns expressed opposition to this bill that would have scaled back successful technology that helps save lives."
