Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after today signing Senate Bill 483, establishing the position of chartered public school program officer in the New Hampshire Department of Education:
"A high-quality education is critical to ensuring that our young people have the skills and critical thinking needed to succeed in today's global economy, and charter schools play an important role in encouraging innovation in classrooms across the state. By establishing the position of chartered public school program officer at the Department of Education, Senate Bill 483 provides essential support to New Hampshire's system of high-quality and accountable public charter schools. This bill builds on our efforts to innovate in our school system in order to help prepare our young for success in the 21st century economy. Senate Bill 483 will help improve the outreach and support charter schools receive from the State, enhancing the educational experience for both students and families of charter schools, and I am proud to sign this bipartisan bill into law."
