Walberg Votes for Landmark Mental Health Legislation

Statement

Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) today voted for bipartisan legislation to strengthen and reform our nation's mental health system. The Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act, the most significant mental health care overhaul in decades, would enhance evidence-based treatment, expand the mental health workforce, help reach underserved and rural populations, reform guidelines for grant programs, and remove barriers to care.

"Mental health issues touch every community in Michigan and across the country. In the current system, far too many individuals are slipping through the cracks, becoming homeless or incarcerated, and not getting the help and treatment they need. With these significant bipartisan reforms, we are offering hope and greater resources for the families who struggle with mental health issues on a daily basis," said Walberg.
