Under Governor Hassan's leadership, New Hampshire has enacted two fiscally responsible, balanced budgets that protected critical economic priorities while holding the line against an income or sales tax. The Governor has promoted efficiency and innovation in state government, consolidating boards and commissions to save New Hampshire taxpayers money.
And Governor Hassan has made the tough choices necessary, including cutting spending and issuing out-of-state travel and hiring freezes, to consistently manage the state budget to a surplus. New Hampshire finished the 2015 fiscal year with a $62 million surplus, doubling the Rainy Day Fund to its highest level since FY 2009. At the same time, New Hampshire cut taxes for research & development and small businesses, while ensuring long-term fiscal responsibility.
Maggie will bring the same focus on fiscal responsibility to the Senate. She'll fight to cut waste, protect economic priorities and end tax breaks for corporate special interests like Wall Street and Big Oil. Maggie will always fight for priorities that help grow the economy while keeping our nation's fiscal house in order.
