Who Do YOU Know That's Larger Than Life?

Statement

Dear Friends,

WHO DO YOU KNOW THAT'S LARGER THAN LIFE? The 3rd Annual "Paul Bunyan Service Above Self" Award recognizes a resident of the 7th Congressional District of Wisconsin who is "larger-than-life." The award serves as a way to thank an individual who went above and beyond to serve their community and improve the quality of life for those around them. Nominations are open to anyone in the 7th Congressional District. We will again have both an adult division and a youth division for all nominees under the age of 18.

WISCONSIN VETERANS: Our nation is blessed to have men and women serve in the military and put their lives on the line in order to protect our freedoms, and Wisconsin veterans have a special place in our nation's history of service. In fact, almost 800,000 Wisconsinites have served in times of conflict, and more than 60 have received the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Our team (as well as Packers' star John Kuhn!) was able to greet Wisconsin's heroes as they visited our National Memorials on a recent Honor Flight. Click below to view the image.

ANOTHER VET UPDATE: HELPING VETERANS ACCESS HEARING HEALTH: Last week my bill, the Veterans' Access to Hearing Health Act, passed unanimously out of the full committee on Veterans Affairs. This legislation ensures that veterans are getting the full range of hearing health services provided by the VA. Over the past four years, hearing loss and tinnitus have been the two more prevalent service- connected disabilities for veterans. Right now, the VA only uses audiologist a to provide hearing services to veterans. My bills allows the VA to hire hearing aid specialists who are qualified to fit, program, adjust, and repair hearing aids. This fix will allow audiologists to decrease their workload and allow them to instead focus on more complex conditions, while also decreasing the wait time for a veteran that just needs a quick fix to his or her hearing aid.

HOLDING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABLE: Millions of Americans have suffered due to the housing crisis of 2008. That's why it's wrong that the Obama Administration took steps to use settlements with banks to support a slush fund for liberal activist groups- rather than focusing on broader economic problems. I recently chaired a subcommittee hearing investigating these shady slush funds. Click below to view my opening statement from the hearing.

THE SOUND OF FREEDOM: Whether they occur on the Fourth of July or a sporting event, military flyovers are an important American tradition. They fill us with patriotic pride, and they remind us of the strength of our military. In recent years, however, the process to request and approve flyovers has become more burdensome due to government red tape. That's why I'm excited to announce that the Sound of Freedom Act recently passed the House! Click below to view a short video we made in February that describes the Sound of Freedom Act.

Have a wonderful week,

Sean Duffy
