Ayotte Statement on Taliban Leader's Death

Statement

Date: May 23, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement today regarding reports that Taliban leader Mullah Mansour was killed by a U.S. airstrike.

"I want to thank our men and women in uniform who delivered justice to Mullah Akhtar Mansour. To prevent Afghanistan from once again becoming a training ground and launching pad for international terrorism, we must make decisions regarding U.S. military posture there based on the advice of our military commanders and our national security interests-not on political timelines and declarations detached from reality on the ground."
