U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte released the following statement today regarding reports that a decision by Attorney General Loretta Lynch could possibly allow the former head of the Phoenix Veterans Affairs office to return to her post. Dozens of veterans died while waiting for care at the Phoenix VA while executives there hid long wait times.
"It is unconscionable that the Phoenix VA executive at the helm of the facility where veterans died waiting for care while she was accepting illegal gifts could possibly return to her job," said Senator Ayotte. "Allowing any VA bureaucrat demonstrating such egregious negligence and unacceptable mismanagement to stay on the job is an insult to all those who serve our country. I urge the Attorney General and the administration put the rights of veterans first by enforcing and defending the law to hold wrongdoers accountable."
