Gottheimer Statement on Standing With Israel

Josh Gottheimer, candidate for Congress in New Jersey's 5th District, issued the following statement today:

"I am deeply concerned that inserting language into the Democratic Platform which favors the Palestinians over our key strategic ally, Israel, is both inconsistent with our party and country's long history and future interests in the region and would greatly undermine the equitable path to peace. Now is not the time to undermine Israel's security and put at risk their and our safety, particularly given the tentative situation in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and our fight with ISIS. I strongly oppose any effort do so."
