Josh Gottheimer, candidate for the 5th Congressional District, applauded the Supreme Court's landmark decision earlier today upholding a woman's right to make her own health decisions.

"A woman's health choices should be decided by her and her doctor, not by Scott Garrett and his fellow Tea Partiers," Gottheimer said.

"Tea Partier Scott Garrett has spent his entire 25-year career in politics opposing women's issues, beginning with a woman's right to choose. Garrett has voted against Equal Pay for Equal Work and the Violence Against Women Act. He voted against health care coverage for mammograms. He even voted to restrict where a woman could breastfeed their child."

On October 17th, 2002, Scott Garrett publicly stated, "I don't have an exception for rape or incest."

In 2008, Tea Partier Scott Garrett went further, supporting an Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would completely eliminate a woman's right to choose.

In 2013, Garrett voted for a ban that would require women to prove rape before having access to health services. He supported a new category of "legitimate rape."
