Pallone Announces that Mail Carrier Operations Will Resume in Oceanport

Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the United States Postal Service will resume mail carrier operations at the Oceanport Post Office on June 1, 2016. The Oceanport Post Office was temporarily closed after a fire in July of 2015. The Oceanport Post Office reopened in late January of this year, but mail carriers continued to report out of the Monmouth Beach Post Office.

Pallone contacted the Postal Service immediately following the fire, and subsequently sent a letter to the Postmaster General stating that shifting personnel out of Oceanport could have an adverse impact on the timing and efficiency of mail delivery for residents. Pallone has heard from local officials and residents regarding the changes and inconvenience posed by the relocation of the carriers.

"I am pleased that mail carriers will now return to working out of Oceanport and continue their tremendous service to the community," said Pallone. "I thank the Postal Service for being responsive to the postal patrons they serve."
