Congressman Carson Announces Over $4 Million in AmeriCorps Funding for Indiana

Today, Congressman André Carson (IN-07), announced $4.3 million in new federal grants that will support AmeriCorps members serving throughout Indiana. The grants are administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that oversees AmeriCorps.

These grants will put 528 AmeriCorps members on the ground to serve with seven organizations. AmeriCorps members will tackle some of the toughest problems throughout the 7th Congressional District and across Indiana including: tutoring and other academic services, expanding economic opportunities, and strengthening disaster preparedness.

"AmeriCorps members are an indispensable resource for nonprofits, communities, and the individuals they serve," said Congressman André Carson. "Community service is an essential part of the solutions to many of the challenges Hoosiers face. AmeriCorps members are able to bring the country together by uniting individuals behind a common goal. I congratulate all of the schools and organizations in Indiana that are receiving these grants, and thank all those who have answered the call to serve by joining AmeriCorps."
