Issue Position

Education is the great equalizer in our society. I have served on the Johnston County Board of Education for over 18 years, and I have a true passion for providing a safe learning environment for our children.

I support:

*Repealing Common Core and replacing it with the North Carolina Education Standards
*Providing more funding for early childhood reading
*Returning local control of schools to the community
*"We need to give greater attention to the veteran teachers, who serve as mentors in the classroom," Strickland said. "I'd like to see them rewarded for their efforts and years of service." -
*Providing more funding for the North Carolina Center for Safer Schools to help continue that all schools in the state are safe, secure and offer an environment conducive to learning
