Four Year Anniversary of DACA Reminds Nevadans Donald Trump & Congressman Heck Want to Tear Families Apart

Former Nevada Attorney General and candidate for United States Senate Catherine Cortez Masto released the following statement on the 4 year anniversary of President Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Achievers(DACA):

"As someone whose grandfather came to this country from Chihuahua, Mexico, this is personal for me. This anniversary of a program that has prevented thousands of Nevada DREAMers from being deported is a reminder that Donald Trump and Congressman Heck's anti-immigrant policies would tear families apart. Donald Trump and Congressman Heck would end DACA -- Congressman Heck even signed onto a lawsuit against the President over it. Both Trump and Congressman Heck have called for repealing the citizenship of American citizens born to immigrant families. And Donald Trump -- who Congressman Heck supports for President -- spent the better part of last week attacking an American Judge's "Mexican heritage.' We need real comprehensive immigration reform that secures our borders and brings millions of undocumented immigrants out of the shadows to earn a path to citizenship. As Nevada's next Senator, I will do what Donald Trump and Congressman Heck won't -- work with both Parties to pass real comprehensive immigration reform. Until then, programs like DACA are necessary to keep families together, and I hope the Supreme Court rules in favor of the program."
