Catherine Cortez Masto Statement on Ted Cruz Attacking the Bipartisan Increase in Education Funding

Statement

Date: Feb. 23, 2016
Location: Las Vegas, NV

Former Nevada Attorney General and candidate for United States Senate Catherine Cortez Masto released the following statement on Senator Ted Cruz's attacks on the bipartisan increase in education funding passed by Governor Sandoval and the Nevada legislature last session:

"This was an example of Democrats and Republicans putting Nevada's kids ahead of partisan politics, so it's natural that the architect of the shut down of the federal government would oppose it. Governor Sandoval and the legislature deserve credit for passing a historic increase in education funding because Nevada kids deserve to be educated in state of the art classrooms, not stuffed into overcrowded portable trailers. Unfortunately, this is yet another issue where my opponent, Congressman Heck, is following Ted Cruz's lead. After supporting the shut down of the federal government and voting with his Party's leaders in Washington 90% of the time, Congressman Heck opposed Governor Sandoval's bipartisan increase in education funding and wants to abolish the Department of Education. In the Senate, I will work with both parties to solve problems and improve education for Nevada's kids."
