At Women's Chamber of Commerce, Cortez Masto Contrasts Her Record on Education and Women's Health With Congressman Heck's

Former Nevada Attorney General and candidate for United States Senate Catherine Cortez Masto spoke at the Women's Chamber of Commerce in Las Vegas today. In her remarks, Cortez Masto made clear she is the only candidate for United States Senate who Nevada women can trust to protect women's health, improve education, and expand the middle class.

Cortez Masto told the Women's Chamber that in the Senate, she will work with both parties to help small businesses cut red tape, pass tax credits for working families, and pass paid family and sick leave. She also contrasted her record as a bipartisan Attorney General who worked with both parties to solve problems and help people with Congressman Heck's narrow right-wing agenda that has brought more partisanship, gridlock, and dysfunction to Washington.

"My opponent, Congressman Heck, is part of the mess in Washington," said Cortez Masto. "He votes with the Tea Party and right wing of his party nine times out of ten, and just a few weeks ago voted yet again to defund Planned Parenthood."

Cortez Masto also made clear the stark contrasts between her and Congressman Heck on education funding. While Congressman Heck opposes Governor Sandoval's bipartisan increase in education funding, Catherine Cortez Masto supports more funding for Nevada kids.

"The choice on education could not be more clear: I support Governor Sandoval's bipartisan increase in education funding, Congressman Heck opposes it," Cortez Masto added. "Congressman Heck even wants to abolish the Department of Education and voted for a Republican budget that would slash public school funding here in Nevada."
