At Raising Wages Summit, Catherine Cortez Masto Contrasts Her Opposition to Job-Shipping Trade Deals With Congressman Heck's Support for Fast Track

This morning, former Nevada Attorney General and candidate for United States Senate Catherine Cortez Masto spoke at the Raising Wages Summit in North Las Vegas. The event was sponsored by the Nevada AFL-CIO. At the Summit, Cortez Masto contrasted the choice in Nevada's U.S. Senate race as one between a Nevada problem solver and a Washington politician who is part of the mess in Washington.

"I'm running for the United States Senate because for too long, Washington has been failing the American people," said Cortez Masto. "Instead of addressing the rising cost of college or ensuring the economy works for everyone, too many in Washington are focused on endless ideological battles like restricting women's access to healthcare."

At the Summit, Cortez Masto highlighted that while her opponent, Congressman Heck, voted to fast track reckless, job-killing trade deals like the Trans-Pacific Partnership, she will fight any trade deal that results in the outsourcing of American jobs overseas.

"We have to stop passing reckless free trade agreements that hurt working families and ship good-paying jobs overseas," said Cortez Masto. "Unfortunately, my opponent, Congressman Heck, not only voted to fast track a job-killing trade deal that was negotiated in secret, he even voted against providing assistance to workers who lose their jobs from the proposed agreement."
