Zinke Announces $904,000 in Grants for Montana Airports

Today Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke announced more than $900,000 in grants has been awarded to Montana's Edgar E. Obie, Roundup, and Plains airports through the Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration.

"Montana's small airports are literally a lifeline to many Montanans living in rural areas," said Rep. Zinke. "It is critical we invest in rural airport infrastructure as a means to bolster our local and state economies and strengthen our communities. I firmly believe building up our infrastructure is a fundamental role of government, and a critical investment, not expense, that will prepare Montana for the future. I congratulate the communities on the grants and applaud their proactive successes."

County of Blaine and City of Chinook, Edgar G Obie Airport -- $625,136

This project will fund the reconstruction of 10,706 square yards of the existing apron pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.
Edgar G Obie Airport is a general aviation airport associated with Chinook, Montana.
Following this grant announcement, FAA will notify the sponsor of the allocation. A grant offer will be issued subsequently for this grant as finally formulated.

City of Roundup/County of Musselshell Roundup Airport -- $99,359

This project will rehabilitate 1,400 feet of existing taxiway B and 4,200 feet of existing taxiway A to maintain the structural integrity of their pavements.
This project will fund the rehabilitation of 5,100 feet of Runway 7/25 to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris.
This project will fund the rehabilitation of 5,600 square yards of the existing apron pavement to maintain structural integrity of the pavement.
Roundup Airport is a general aviation airport associated with Roundup, Montana.
Following this grant announcement, FAA will notify the sponsor of the allocation. A grant offer will be issued subsequently for this grant as finally formulated.

Sanders County, Plains Airport -- $180,000

This project will fund the rehabilitation of 9,500 square yards of the existing apron to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement.
This project will fund the rehabilitation of 4,650 feet of Runway 13/31 to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris.
This project will fund the rehabilitation of 265 feet of taxiway T1, 900 feet of taxiway T2, 560 feet of the Runway 13 turnaround taxiway, 560 feet of the Runway 31 turnaround taxiway, and 1,200 feet of taxilane A1 to maintain the structural integrity of their pavements.
Plains Airport is a general aviation airport associated with Plains, Montana.
