Santa Cruz Sentinel - Congressional Candidate Jimmy Panetta To Appear On Community TV Monday

Jimmy Panetta, a deputy district attorney in Monterey County and son of former Secretary of State Leon Panetta, will be a guest on a community television talk show this month to discuss his congressional candidacy.

His appearance on the "Let's Talk with Lou," hosted by longtime local host Lou Tuosto, will air on Community TV of Santa Cruz County via channels 27 for Comcast and 73 for Charter at 8 p.m. Mondays and 9 a.m. Sundays throughout February. The episode will also stream online at www.communitytv.org.

Though Panetta is running for the same seat once held by his famous father, who is also a former defense secretary, he has said he wants people to know him, not just his last name.

The purpose of the hour-long talk show episode is to help people do just that, Tuosto said in a statement.

On the show, the 46-year-old front-runner will talk about current issues; his work as a criminal prosecutor and Naval service in Afghanistan, which earned him a Bronze Star; and his dream list of congressional committee assignments -- the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House committees on Agriculture and Natural Resources.

"I'm excited about being able to bring Jimmy Panetta to the community of Santa Cruz County," Tuosto said.

Casey Lucius, a Pacific Grove councilwoman and Republican, has announced that she also is running to replace Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel, who is retiring after 20 years.

Soquel High teacher Matt Bruner is running as a progressive Independent.
