This week revealed just how far Richard Burr will go to prop up his incredibly vulnerable re-election chances. After months of trying to avoid talking about the discriminatory HB2 law, on Tuesday he suddenly criticized the law just as new polls came out showing it was deeply unpopular. And then just as quickly, he went silent on the issue.

Burr's many positions on HB2 highlight a constant theme for the man who has spent more than two decades in Washington: his positions shift with the political winds.
