Angie Craig: "Whoever Wins CD2 Republican Nod Will Replicate Trump's Toxic Policies"

Statement

Date: May 4, 2016
Issues: Elections

In response to Donald Trump's victory in the Indiana primary last night, making him the presumed Republican nominee for president, DFL-endorsed Candidate for Congress Angie Craig issued the following statement:

"I find it outrageous that Donald Trump has become the presumed nominee for president for the Republican Party.

"Unfortunately, all of the Republicans running for Congress in the 2nd Congressional District have said they will support Trump if he is the nominee, and one of them is even giving Trump a run for his money with similarly sexist and ignorant comments. With the CD2 GOP convention on Saturday, I know that whoever comes out with the backing of the Minnesota Republican Party will only replicate the same toxic policies.

"Electing the next member of Congress from the Second District isn't going to be about shocking soundbites. Voters of the 2nd Congressional District know that we need a leader who looks for common ground and who will focus on the issues that matter to working families, not hurl insults that only serve to continue to divide us."

Angie Craig was unanimously endorsed by the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) party this past weekend at the CD2 DFL convention.
