Angie Craig, who is seeking the DFL endorsement in Minnesota's open Second Congressional District, released the following statement after Democratic-Farmer-Labor candidate Mary Lawrence withdrew from the Second Congressional District Race:
"I want to thank Mary for her contributions to this race. Dr. Lawrence's entire adult life has been about giving back to the community, whether she was working at the University of Minnesota, at the VA caring for our nation's veterans, or in political life. It's been a pleasure getting to know her these last few months on the campaign trail, and her presence in this race certainly made me a stronger candidate.
"I will continue to work to earn the support of the DFL party and traditional allies. We need a strong and united party coming out of the DFL endorsing convention to win in November. And you can bet that the GOP candidate on the ballot in November will be well-funded by those that want to see another member of Congress turn their backs on Minnesotans in favor of big business and special interests.
"We can't let up now. It's time for a unified DFL to work even harder to help rebuild the American Dream and restore a path to opportunity for all families."
