Governor Maggie Hassan applauded legislative leadership following the announcement that the legislature will hold a special session on June 16 to take up a measure expanding Operation Granite Hammer statewide to support state and local law enforcement in combating the heroin and opioid crisis:
"Expanding Operation Granite Hammer statewide has broad bipartisan support, and I applaud Senate President Morse and Speaker Jasper for their swift action to convene a special session of the legislature to take up this important measure. Through a successful grant program that we began last October, State Police have assisted local law enforcement in the City of Manchester in seizing illicit drugs and arresting dealers, and we need to expand this effort to support local enforcement to communities across the state. I thank legislative leadership for working quickly to address this issue and committing to bring forward a clean bill, and I look forward to continuing to work with legislators from both parties to expand Operation Granite Hammer so that we can assist state and local law enforcement across the state in their efforts on the front lines to combat the heroin and opioid crisis."
