Governor Hassan's Statement on Passage of Additional Resources for Substance Misuse Prevention, Treatment and Recovery

After the New Hampshire House of Representatives and the New Hampshire Senate passed the committee of conference version of Senate Bill 533 -- which was part of the comprehensive package of legislation the Governor proposed last November and provides additional resources for substance misuse prevention, treatment and recovery -- Governor Hassan issued the following statement:

"Since I called for a special legislation session on the heroin and opioid crisis last fall, we have been working to provide additional resources to combat this horrible epidemic and help save lives, and Senate Bill 533 includes significant pieces of my original comprehensive proposal. This bipartisan bill provides $5 million in additional funds to support prevention, treatment and recovery programs and to increase supportive housing, while also allowing for an additional attorney at the Department of Justice to focus on opioid-related crimes and issues.

"The final passage of this bill is an important step forward in our comprehensive approach to combat the heroin and opioid crisis, and I thank legislators from both parties for working together to send it to my desk. I look forward to signing this bill as soon as possible so that we can get these critical resources to those working on the front lines of this crisis."
